The Volunteers

Synopsis:

It tells the story of the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army who was deployed during the Korean War. Zhao He was once an enemy who joins the soldiers of the Fourth Company and witnessed history unfold. Kuomintang commander Zhao He was captured in the Battle of Nanning. As he was about to be sent home, the Fourth Company commander Tang Da Cheng leads him out of prison as a ‘liberation fighter’. Brought to the battlefields of the Korean War, Zhao He is treated as a former enemy by his new comrades Chen Tian Fang and the other veterans of the Fourth Company. A war far away in a foreign country changes everyone’s fate.
